Hulkenberg Faces Stewards Investigation for Impeding Leclerc During Monaco Qualifying

Nico Hulkenberg has been called before the Formula 1 stewards following allegations that he drove excessively slowly through Monaco’s iconic tunnel section during Saturday’s qualifying session. The Audi driver is suspected of impeding Charles Leclerc during the incident, which could result in a grid penalty for Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix.

The German driver secured 13th position on the starting grid for this weekend’s race around the principality’s challenging street circuit. However, his qualifying performance has now come under scrutiny from race officials who are examining whether his pace through the tunnel constituted unnecessary obstruction of other competitors.

In a separate incident also under investigation, stewards are reviewing an occurrence in the pit lane involving Williams driver Alexander Albon and Arvid Lindblad during the same qualifying session. The nature of this incident has not been disclosed, but it adds to the post-qualifying investigations that could potentially reshape the grid for Sunday’s race.

Both investigations highlight the intense scrutiny that drivers face during qualifying sessions at Monaco, where track position and timing are crucial due to the circuit’s narrow layout and limited overtaking opportunities. Any penalties resulting from these investigations would be announced ahead of Sunday’s Grand Prix.
