When Does
Your Driver’s
Deal Expire?

The 2027 silly season is going to be loud. Most of this year’s grid heads into the summer with their current deal counting down, and a brand-new technical era to use as either a launch pad or an exit excuse. The picture below pulls together what every team has publicly confirmed, what the trade press has reported as “understood,” and where the honest answer is still “we don’t know.”

Confirmed dates are in solid red. Where the contract is multi-year but the exact length hasn’t been disclosed, the additional years appear as striped extensions โ€” that’s the speculation zone, drawn from the most credible reporting available. Anything purely confidential is flagged as such. None of this should be read as a sealed bid: F1 contracts are full of performance clauses, exit windows and options that can be triggered (or not) at any moment.

What This Tells Us About 2027

04
Locked Long-Term

Piastri (2028), Verstappen (2028), Gasly (2028) and Leclerc (believed 2029) are the only drivers definitively beyond 2027. Four drivers, two top teams, one midfielder.

18
In Play For 2027

Every other full-time driver either expires at the end of 2026 or has speculation but no public confirmation beyond 2027. The 2027 silly season will move on multiple fronts at once.

03
Hard Exits Possible

Alonso (45 in July), Hadjar (Red Bull’s high-pressure second seat) and Lindblad (rookie under review) are the most exposed to a clean 2026-end change.

01
Family Seat

Lance Stroll is the only driver whose contract is functionally indefinite. As long as Lawrence Stroll owns Aston Martin, Lance has the second seat.

Sources & Methodology Contract information compiled from official team announcements, Sky Sports F1, Formula1.com, Motor Sport Magazine, PlanetF1.com and ESPN as of May 2026. Where deals are described as “multi-year” without a stated end date, this dossier reports the most credible figure repeatedly cited across these sources, tagged REPORTED or UNDISCLOSED. F1 contracts routinely include performance clauses, mutual exit windows and unilateral options that can change a driver’s situation without notice; nothing here should be read as a binding forecast. We will update this dossier as new terms become public.
