Cadillac Unveils Fresh Upgrades for Canadian GP as Team Pursues Performance Gains

The Cadillac Formula 1 team has announced a comprehensive upgrade package for the Canadian Grand Prix, introducing new front brake drums, diffuser trim and winglets, plus front torsion bars designed to enhance the MAC-26’s handling of Montreal’s challenging kerbs. This latest development package represents the American manufacturer’s continued push to extract performance from their maiden F1 machine following encouraging results from their Miami Grand Prix upgrades.

Team principal Graeme Lowdon expressed optimism about building upon the Miami improvements, which he described as delivering “a notable increase in performance” for the squad. The Florida weekend saw mixed qualifying results for the team, with gaps to Q2 varying dramatically between sprint and main qualifying sessions, though driver Sergio Perez managed to briefly compete with midfield runners during race conditions, securing 15th and 13th place finishes.

Perez emphasized the urgency behind Cadillac’s aggressive development approach, stating after Miami: “We are in a massive hurry to find performance because we know Aston is going to be improving and we don’t want to be left behind.” The Mexican driver praised the team’s Miami weekend as “very enjoyable,” highlighting improved pace and the successful implementation of major upgrades that translated into on-track performance gains.

The Canadian Grand Prix upgrades specifically target Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve’s notorious steep kerbs, with Perez expressing confidence about the team’s trajectory. “There were definite flashes of real progress, and we need to put it all together at the same time,” he noted. “If we can do this, I believe we’ll be closer to the pack in front.” The upgrades demonstrate Cadillac’s commitment to rapid development as they establish themselves in Formula 1’s competitive landscape.
