Pierre Gasly has reflected on Alpine’s challenging 2025 campaign while expressing optimism about the team’s performance in the early stages of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
The Frenchman endured a difficult year with Alpine in 2025, but the team’s fortunes appear to have shifted with the introduction of the sport’s overhauled technical regulations this season. The 2026 rules package brought sweeping changes to both chassis design and power units, which now feature a 50-50 split between combustion and electric power.
Gasly Bullish on Alpine’s Early 2026 Form
Speaking about the turnaround, Gasly made clear his appetite for continued improvement. “Quero mais,” he said — a Portuguese expression meaning “I want more” — signalling his determination to capitalise on Alpine’s stronger start to the current campaign.
The 30-year-old driver has been with the Enstone-based outfit since 2023, when he joined from AlphaTauri. His partnership with the team has seen mixed results, with 2025 proving particularly frustrating as Alpine struggled to find consistent form in what was the final season under the previous generation of technical regulations.
Alpine’s 2026 Reset
Alpine entered 2026 with renewed hope following a winter of development focused on maximising the potential of the new rules. The team invested heavily in understanding the active aerodynamics systems mandated by the FIA, as well as adapting to the significantly increased electrical component of the power unit.
While specific performance metrics from the opening races of 2026 remain to be detailed, Gasly’s comments suggest the team has made tangible progress compared to its 2025 struggles. The drive to extract more from the package underlines both his personal ambition and Alpine’s broader aim to climb the constructors’ standings.
Alpine will look to maintain momentum as the 2026 season continues, with Gasly eager to convert the team’s improved baseline into consistent points finishes and potentially podium challenges as development progresses throughout the year.
