Hamilton Describes Ferrari Performance as ‘No-Man’s Land’ Following Disappointing Miami GP Weekend

Lewis Hamilton expressed frustration with Ferrari’s performance at the Miami Grand Prix, describing his position as being stuck in “no-man’s land” after scoring just eight points from a possible 33 across the sprint and main race weekends. The seven-time world champion finished seventh in both Saturday’s sprint race and Sunday’s grand prix, marking a significant step backward for the Scuderia despite implementing 11 upgrades to their SF-24 package.

Ferrari entered the Miami weekend with high expectations following three consecutive podium finishes in Australia, China, and Japan. However, the extensive car updates failed to deliver the anticipated performance gains, while rivals McLaren and Red Bull appeared to close the gap during the five-week break preceding the Miami event. Hamilton’s struggles began in qualifying, where he could only manage sixth position, before sustaining first-lap damage in the race following contact with Williams driver Franco Colapinto.

“Obviously it’s not a good weekend at all,” Hamilton told Sky Sports F1. “Seventh and seventh; no-man’s land in both races. Particularly today with the damage, there was nothing I could do. Really unfortunate because the team worked so hard so to come away with so few points… we have to move on from here.” The British driver explained that the incident occurred when Max Verstappen spun ahead of him, forcing Hamilton to take evasive action to the right where Colapinto made contact, significantly compromising his car’s performance for the remainder of the race.

The disappointing Miami result represents a return to the inconsistent form that characterized much of Hamilton’s early Ferrari tenure, particularly his ongoing struggles to match teammate Charles Leclerc’s qualifying pace. However, the 40-year-old had shown marked improvement in recent races, breaking his Ferrari podium drought in China and performing competitively in both Australia and Japan. Hamilton will look to bounce back at the upcoming Canadian Grand Prix, a circuit where he has claimed victory seven times throughout his career.
